Once a person has a backpack meant for outdoor endeavors, it should be tested out with weight before being taken out into the field. The person should pack it as they would for a wilderness trip, making sure to get familiarized with the straps and features of the backpack. Once all the stuff is inside the pack, the person should go for a walk or hike. This lets the wearer get a feel for how the backpack sits on the hips, shoulders, and back.
