5 Must Read Benefits Of Hiring A Sleep Coach
1-The same reason you hire any kind of coach
Why do you hire a personal trainer rather than just going to the gym? Why do you seek the guidance of a business coach? Why do you find a nutrition coach or a life coach or a therapist? The answer is simple. You hire any kind of coach or expert because you want to guarantee and expedite success. Can you reach your fitness goal without a personal trainer? Maybe. Can you reach your business goals and gain those critical insights without a business coach? Possibly. There comes a point where “maybe” and “possibly” aren’t good enough. You come to me to sleep train your baby or young child because you know the value of your time and of your family’s mental and emotional health. You come to me rather than taking on the task alone because you know together we will do it right the first time, leaving no cracks in the foundation or any questions unanswered.
2-Accountability and support when you feel weak
The number one reason parents believe sleep training “doesn’t work”, is because they didn’t have anybody there to support them and encourage them during the difficult parts of the sleep training process. Just as you rely on your personal trainer to encourage and support you as you’re feeling like giving up in the gym, you also are able to rely on me as your sleep coach when things get rough at 2am. It becomes very tempting to just bring your 1-year-old into bed because you’re just too tired to stick to the plan… That moment of weakness, the moment of needing somebody to hold you accountable to the goal you set, to the plan you made- THAT is the make it or break point for so many parents. I have had many clients tell me they had tried multiple times to sleep train on their own, and it is the same story across the board: One or both of the parents gave in before the child was given the chance to adapt to the new sleep schedule. This is no different than you giving up at the gym without a personal trainer before you have the chance to begin seeing and feeling results. Accountability and support both play a huge role in parents successfully sleep training.
3-Education and correct information
One of the most familiar complaints or hurdles I hear my clients talk about is the fact that Google left them more confused and overwhelmed than they were before they typed the question. There is TOO much information on this topic. Passive aggressive (or just plain old aggressive) parents commenting on FB that one way is right and the other way is wrong. Reputable parenting publications that contradict their own advice when the general consensus pendulum swings the other way, each article more emphatic than the last. Conflicting studies “proving” or “disproving” both ends of any given topic. When Google is your sleep training guide, it usually doesn’t end well. When you hire NYSC to be your coach, you have my 16 years of experience plus definitive answers backed by the most current peer reviewed medical journals on pediatric sleep approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. I don’t guide you with questionable opinions. I guide you with facts and proof.
