Koreans have been on the quest for perfect skin for centuries (some say their methods date all the way back to 700 BCE) but it is only recently that K-beauty has become a global buzzword and permeated the beauty cabinets of the rest of the world.
Korean beauty starts with the skin. It’s not good enough to rely on photo filters. No, Koreans want to have porcelain, blemish-free skin in the flesh, every day. Their cleansing-toning-moisturising routines can involve 10 steps (and counting). Products such as essences, polishers, blemish stickers and sheet masks are used daily or weekly.
Then there is make-up. The South Koreans are not only leaders in skincare technology; they have introduced the Western world to innovations in make-up too. One of the most popular products to come out of South Korea is the cushion compact.
